Why is it that prices for alcoholic drinks are typically not listed on a restaurant menu?

I don’t respect restaurants that do this. They know that you look like a cheap person for asking about the price so they use this to sell. I think it is shady and underhanded and I will not go to these type of establishments

I’ve worked in a restaurant for 20+ years, and I don’t even know!! We have a full bar, ( separate from the restaurant), and we don’t list alcohol at all. We have beer signs in the windows though…
I definately will ask my boss today why alcohol isn’t mentioned in menus.
My guess is the cost. I’ve been to restaurants and they will list some drinks, but never the price. But places with full bars, there are soo many drinks that can be made, plus, there are always new ones to be invented. I know we have a list that we go by, and I bet there are close to 100 different mixed drinks, plus the beer prices on the list.
People do get scared when they see the price. I know alcohol can jump your food bill quite a bit.
But I will definately ask my boss today. I’m curious myself!!

New ideas for a fast food restaurant menu?

I recently bought an ice cream shop and have decided to add food to the menu. Im looking for new ideas, something different than the same old burger and hot dog. I want to keep it simple, like one or two major items. My best thought has been philly cheese steak and philly chicken sandwiches – (of course fries, onion rings, and tons of toppings) any other ideas like this?

Cotton Candy, Pretzels (huge ones), Gourmet Jelly Beans, Gummy candy.

Fried Egg sandwiches. Fried Egg/Pickel sandwiches for the pregnant ladies. Toast. Chili bean free or meat free or combo it.

Keep it Short/Simple. (kiss)

Less inventory to be bothered with. ie Expiration dates. Low cost.

What is the lowest fat vegetarian dish on an average Indian restaurant menu?

I’m going out for an indian meal tonight. I’m vegetarian and on a diet.

Any ideas on what I should order and avoid?
xxx

avoid:
-samosas
-cutlets
-mendu vadas
-pakora
all the above are fried
-halwa (dessert with lots of oils)
-anything with "paneer" in it cuz paneer is a fatty cheese

ask for:
-roti
-naan (ask them not to put oil or butter on it)
-any rice dish or biryani
-vegetable jalfrazi (mixed stir fried vegetables)
-anything with "dal" in it –> dals are cooked lentils rich in protein
-potato chaat –> cooked potatos with flavorful sauces
-chana masala
-aloo gobi
