how much does it cost to create a new menu for a restaurant?

a friend of mine is a chef and a restaurant owner wants him to come in and create a new menu for him but he does not know what to charge him for revamping their menu. can someone help me please.

This is something that many restaurant owners pay a friend to do. $50 for a basic layout. We paid an artist $100 for a pretty design. There are no residual payments on a job like that.
The bad part is that all restaurant owners already have their mind made up about the way they want the menu to look. So they are quick to find fault with any idea that does not correspond with theirs..

I helped a restaurant make their menu and training book?

I helped a restaurant make their menu and training book before it opened. At the time I was working for a company as a computer tech. The person who was my boss at that company had me type up 300 pages + for the menu and the training book in my free time on the clock. I stopped working at this place and was never compensated or rewarded for my efforts.

This restaurant now has 5+ chains, would it be fair to request compensation for all my hard work?

If you were on the clock then you were on the clock then you were compensated.
It’s pretty hard for them if you no longer work there.

What is the weirdest item you’ve seen on a menu at a restaurant?

My favorite Chinese restaurant has an item named: "Budhha jumps over the wall" and it always cracks me up when I see it on the menu.

It would have to be LIVE sushi. They serve it with the fish (a garnish) still breathing with it’s sides sliced up and served as the dish. I love sushi but this is taking it a bit too far … wouldn’t you say?

Vegetarian or non- vegetarian, would fish dishes as part of the vegetarian menu of a restaurant cause you to never return to that restaurant?

Please indicate if you’re vegetarian or non-vegetarian as well.
Hallie-vegetarians don’t eat animal flesh.

Jax-didn’t answer my question.

if fish is on the menu, it is certainly NOT vegetarian. some "vegetarians" do eat fish…but they really arent vegetarians, they are pescotarians. and then you also have ovo-lacto vegetarians who will eat eggs and milk. as to answer your question as to whether or not i would return to the restaurant….most definitely if the food was good. but i would probably tell someone that fish is not considered vegetarian.

p.s. i am NOT vegetarian!! meat tastes too damn good not to eat it.
