Why does food at a restaurant always taste better than home cooking?

I cook quite a bit at home but I must admit the food at most restaurants taste much better than my own cooking. So why do you think restaurant food taste so much better?

Fat is the answer.Restaurants always use too much fat and it is this fat that enhances the taste of the food. Then there is the psychological effect restaurant food has on your body.It is different from your own cooking and your body looks forward to tasting something else.Your taste buds are therefor more acute.Another thing that might have an influence is MSG(mono-sodium glutamate).Perhaps restaurants use it as a food enhancer(It is possible but I have not seen this yet. Most foodstuff already has some MSG added)

How does one find out if a restaurant is opened and operated by illegal aliens.?

There is a strip mall in Ohio which opened a Mexican restaurant just last summer. There was already a Mexican restaurant in this mall. I would like to know if they are illegal, how do they obtain restaurant permits, food handler permits and get inspections by the health department.

It shouldn’t matter. Focus on something else obviously they have all their permits specially around the mall. Leave those people alone. Let them be. Start doing something more positive like helping senior citizen. Everything bad thing u o comes back to hunt you KARMA one day one those illegal alien will be the one helping from a situation. Relax its your choice if you want to eat there or not.

My girlfriend will be coming up to visit me in mid-May and I would like to take her out on a formal date to a restaurant that is reasonably nice but not likely to completely break the bank. What suggestions do you have for a restaurant with a good atmosphere?

By the way, why in the world does Yahoo! Answers not have a section for Minneapolis-St. Paul like it does for other metros?

Restaurants have changed in the Twin Cities the last 5 years with a nice increase in highly rated NEIGHBORHOOD restaurants instead of the big chains or legacy (heritage) restaurants like Murray’s. So check around your neighborhood first!

That being said, the 1st link is for the top restaurants in the cities from Minneapolis St Paul magazine. (Always go with a poll where customers vote!)

For the 2 years I’ve been answering questions, I’ve asked SEVERAL TIMES that we be added to the list of cities–even if it was as the TWIN CITIES. But we are fly-over country and anyone in California (Yahoo’s headquarters) or New York doesn’t see our cities as worthy of notice. (Yet, Craigslist does…go figure!)

Hope you have a great evening!

Is it illegal to put an entire restaurant menu in spanish if it is located in the USA?

or any language besides English

Because my mom walked into a Mexican restaurant and the entire menu was in Spanish, and she was pissed
the owners didn’t even understand English, and yes she asked for an English menu, none to be found

You asked: "…Is it illegal to put an entire restaurant menu in spanish if it is located in the USA?
or any language besides English…"

Nope. It isn’t.

You wrote: "…Because my mom walked into a Mexican restaurant and the entire menu was in Spanish, and she was pissed…"

Pissed because she doesn’t know how to read Spanish, or pissed because she mistakenly thought she was in an American restaurant instead of a Mexican one?

Did she bother to ask for an English language menu?

What is the best restaurant in Brisbane with nice view and good food?

My friend and I have a bet on her study. We gonna go to the best restaurant in Brisbane and the loser have to pay for that.
The restaurant can be Asian or Western!

Oxleys on the River is definitely one of the best and have won a plethora of awards. Last year they were a finalist in Queensland for best seafood and best tourism restaurant. They actually got the Queensland Gold Plate award people’s choice for Best restaurant in Brisbane. Also if you or your friend’s birthday is near, and you go on your actual birthday, (and have ID) the birthday boy/girl eats for free, so you only pay for one person’s meal. (This is on a set menu only). You also get serenaded by the staff.

I’d recommend the seafood platter, and I love the spring rolls entree. The riverside view is really lovely and it’s very quiet and serene inside. You are really lucky if you get a windowside seat as you can just relax and watch the various boats go past. There is no noise from the kitchen or Coronation drive, no interupptions and the staff are always very professional.

I hope you enjoy your meal (and that you win the bet!). May the best restaurant win!
