Can someone who lives in or near San Francisco recommend a great North Beach restaurant?

I’m interested in your own experience, not a list copied and pasted from an online restaurant guide. (I’ve already looked at those.)
Thanks!

Buca Giovanni is great. The Stinking Rose is ok, for a chain restaurant, haven’t tried Ceasars.

My favorites
Marios Boheimian Cigar Store right at Washington Square has great Italian style sandwiches. Not fancy but good.
Cafe Macaroni on Columbus at Jackson is good, great pasta and other favorites.
Rose Pistola on Columbus at Green [approximately] is the best upscale Itialian food.

Bon Gusto!

What is the difference between "menus" and "menus suite" in a ferme auberge restaurant menu?

The terms come from an online list of menus at a ferme auberge in France. I was not sure whether one set of menus would be for lunch or whether the difference was the size/contents of the fixed price meals.

Thank you for help in clarifying.

"Suite" means next or continued, when you get to the bottom of a page for instance. I would guess then that they couldn’t fit the whole menu on one page and continued on to another.

New York restaurant guide online?

I’ll be visiting NYC (Brooklyn and lower Manhattan); can you recommend any good local restaurant sites or blogs? The big ones, like NY Times and New York Magazine, are a bit overwhelming.
Thanks for the first few responses, but to clarify, I was looking for LOCAL sites – not branches of national sites. What do locals read and submit to trade tips?

24/Seven is a free newspaper – it’s usually an insert in the middle of the free neighborhood papers (the Park Slope Courier, Bay Ridge Courier, etc) They have restaurant reviews, musical events and sometimes offer coupons for restaurants and museums. They also list some menus online.

Bay Ridge restaurants:

It’s big, but, MenuPages is the best one – it’s easy to navigate – you can narrow it down by neighborhood or type of food. The menus and prices are printed here and, you can read comments made by people who have eaten there. I love to read menus! It tells you the restaurant’s exact location (the cross-streets) and the hours they are open.

I like Ed Levine, and often try the restaurants that he recommends

Enjoy your visit, and be sure to get some great Brooklyn pizza
